Incident Logging

Every incident gets an auto-generated reference number (EMS-YYYYMMDD-XXXX). Log call time, scene arrival, patient contact and hospital handover times.

Pre-Hospital Vitals

Capture BP, pulse, respiratory rate, SpO2 and GCS at the scene. Vitals are timestamped and stored against the incident record.

Incident Classification

Record incident type, mechanism of injury or illness, interventions performed and patient response.

Outcome Recording

Record patient outcome: treated on scene, transported, refused transport, deceased on arrival. Hospital destination recorded for transported patients.

Patient Identification

Link to an existing ELMED patient account or create a new patient record from the incident. Walk-in or unidentified patients can be registered as anonymous.

Incident Statistics

Track your incident volume, response times and patient outcomes over time on your EMS dashboard.

Getting started

How to get on ELMED

Register with your HPCSA number

Create your account, select Paramedic and add your HPCSA number, EMS discipline and service provider name.

Admin approves your account

Credentials are reviewed and your EMS portal is activated.

Log incidents from any device

The EMS portal works on mobile, tablet and desktop. Log incidents in the field as they happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which EMS disciplines can register on ELMED?

Any HPCSA-registered EMS discipline: paramedic, ALS, BLS, EMS officer and flight paramedic. All register under the EMS role.

Can I use the EMS portal on a mobile phone?

Yes. The portal is mobile-responsive. Paramedics can log incidents, capture vitals and record outcomes from a smartphone in the field.

Does the portal integrate with hospital emergency departments?

If the receiving hospital has an ELMED casualty portal, the incident record can be referenced at handover. Full HL7/FHIR integration is on the roadmap.
