Record every antenatal visit: gestation, fundal height, fetal heart rate, blood pressure and screening results. Visits are plotted against a gestational calendar.

Birth Plan Management

Create and store a birth plan per patient: preferred birth setting, pain management choices, partner presence, immediate newborn care preferences.

Delivery Records

Record the delivery: mode of birth, complications, APGAR scores at 1 and 5 minutes, cord blood details and immediate newborn outcomes.

Postnatal Visit Schedule

Schedule and record postnatal home visits. Track breastfeeding, wound healing, newborn weight and maternal mood at each visit.

Premium practitioners get a public microsite at /maternity-site/your-name with services and a patient contact form.

Register with your SANC or HPCSA number

Create your account, select Midwife or enter the maternity role and add your registration number and facility details.

Admin approves your account

Credentials are reviewed and your maternity portal is activated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can both midwives and obstetricians use the maternity portal?
Yes. The maternity portal supports SANC-registered midwives and HPCSA-registered obstetricians. Both register under the Maternity role.
Are birth records POPIA compliant?
Yes. All maternity records on ELMED are stored in compliance with POPIA and the National Health Act retention requirements.
Can patients view their antenatal records?
Yes. Antenatal records are accessible to the patient through their patient portal.
